THE TRUTH ABOUT BURNING FAT!!!
(Part 2)
CUT THE CALORIES!! BURN THE FAT!!
YES, THAT'S GREAT!!!
BUT, WHAT ABOUT THE MUSCLE??
In short, you lose muscle when you cut calories,
unless you decide to do something about it!!
WEIGHT LOSS!! CALORIE-DEFICIT!!
FAT LOSS!! MUSCLE LOSS!!
WHO’S THIS GUY???
ANSWER: CHRISTIAN BALE
If your sole focus is to lose weight and nothing else, you will (unfortunately) lose some (or a lot) of muscle.
If you’re a movie-buff, like me, you’d recognise the actor in this picture is actually ‘Christian Bale’ taken from the movie ‘The Machinist’ (2004).
To prepare for this movie, he went on an extreme calorie-deficit going from 173 pounds to 110 pounds.
To lose 63 pounds, the actor followed a crazy diet…that clearly worked . For almost four months, he ate only one can of tuna fish and/or one apple per day.
SO, HOW DID MR. BALE GET HIS MUSCLE BACK?
He lost so much muscle during that 4-month period that he (apparently) could ‘hardly do a press-up’ by the end of it.
However, after many gym sessions, resistance training and a ‘normal’ eating regime, he was back in shape for the legendary ‘Dark Knight Trilogy’ which commenced the following year.
…SO, WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN???….
IT MEANS THAT IF YOU GO ON A DIET, THEN YOU
SHOULD TRY YOUR BEST TO PRESERVE
AS MUCH MUSCLE AS POSSIBLE!!!
Quite simply, if you want to strip off that unsightly fat, but keep (or in some cases even grow) muscle, then you have to stimulate it!!
....SO, IN A VERY SMALL NUTSHELL...
TO KEEP THE MUSCLE WHILST DIETING, you need to:
....IS THAT IT??...
Of course not!!
BUT THERE’S ONLY SO MUCH I’M GONNA TALK ABOUT IN ONE BLOG
